Castle in the Sky

 

4 Hammer 1490 DR



Waterdeep is a huge city, bigger than any city I've ever been in. It's honestly slightly intimidating. We arrived in the morning feeling the cold winter wind beating against us. The cultists stopped at an Inn and we decided to spy on them. Not much activity happened besides them talking to some workers.

The following day we followed them up north and into the Mere of Dead Men. Nothing like trekking through another swamp to remind us of our Phlan days. The cultists arrived at a small outpost and we decided to sneak in as cultists ourselves. I don't think anyone suspected otherwise.

Rain and Catscratch were able to break into the safe room thanks to Luna and Winny's amazing musical performance. One by one we snuck into the room, Cwl distracting the guard to help our chances. We found a secret tunnel and traveled a ways through the swamp until we eventually reach the "abandoned" castle. We fought tons of Bullywugs and Lizardmen, these monsters almost killing Luna twice. We headed down into a large cavern and ran into Splatergoo, the Bullywug chief. He wanted the cultists dead as much as we do and informed us of the way Rezmir (holder of the black dragon mask) ran off too.

We hurried through a portal that teleported us onto the top of a mountain, most likely the Graypeak Mountains since I could see Parnast and the Anauroch Desert far off in the distance.

A large cabin stood before us as we entered. We snuck into rooms and the others stole a bunch of random items. We ran into a Wearer of Purple, Talis the White, and this elf decided to make a deal with us. She'd spare our lives (and forgive us for the items we stole) if we killed Rezmir for her. We agreed and she put some snake tattoo onto us so she'd know our exact location at all times.

We headed to Parnast as we were told to and hitched a ride on some wyverns. The beasts flew us up above the Anauroch Desert and onto a huge flying ice castle in the sky. Catscratch waved a banner of the cult (which he had stolen) and we were let onto the castle safetly. We were all exhausted so we decided to get some sleep before continuing on.

13 Alturiak 1489 DR Today we decided to do some shopping. Catscratch went off on his own to who knows where while Luna and I visited the Shrine of Luck. Luna gave a coin in hopes for some good luck. If she wants to waste her coin on such things, by all means. But luck isn't going to help you survive in this world. Catscratch quickly appeared before us and even brought someone I've never seen before, a tall cat with a leafy looking cloak. A Tabaxi, I believe they're called. The Book Thief (Part 2)

22 Eleint 1489 DR We finally met up with the head librarian and he told us about some of his staff missing. He told us to check the archives since that's where the two were suppose to be on duty today. The archives were huge but we found the area. We were too late once we noticed the dead body hunched over a table with piles of books. We did notice two of the books that were stolen were now open on the table with pages ripped out about the Pool of Radiance. Suddenly, a shockwave and rumble rang through out the archives as all the book cases toppled over. A hole was blown into a wall and we went to investigate. We found a room with old, burnt, books and were attacked by shadows. Luna was downed quickly while the rest of us finished them off. With Luna back on her feet, we hurried through another hole in the wall and ended up in the sewers. Luna caused these giant centipedes to fall asleep as we snuck by. Fairy Dust

30 Alturiak 1489 DR We've finally reached Red Larch. I was pretty familiar with the area since it's so close to the city of Yartar and, well, my ruins. We decided to help out some guy by killing wolves for pelts. As we entered the Krypt Garden Forest, we ran into a small pixie named Quill and his hedgehog steed Spike. This pixie wanted us to help him find a magical well that apparently heals any mounds. His wings were broken so he was hoping to get them fixed. We agreed to help in the morning as Quill lead us to the fairy trees. Small houses hung from branches. This was my first time ever seeing fairies before and never knew if they truly existed or not. I did barter for a rune stone. Pretty sure I got fire. Time to camp out. Guess I have first watch. In the morning we headed off deeper into the forest. It was darker and quieter, even with the sun high in the sky. Kinda reminded me of the forest surrounding the tribe. Theres nothing to fear in the dark, I've found out. ...
