Driving up the mountain, we ran into a caravan with a broken wheel. We helped these hooded people (who Winny seemed to know) and escorted them to the small town of Parnast. Even in Mirtul it felt hot in town. Most likely because this town sits on the edge of the Anauroch Desert.
Apparently this hooded group was also on their way across the desert and asked us to accompany them in delivering the statue in their cart. Winny wanted to help so we didn't really have a choice. After buying some appropriate desert clothes we headed out of Parnast and to the edge of the desert. We were greeted by a red Dragonborne, Azam, and his psudodragon, Hssing. He was going to be our guide through the desert.
Days past and we ran into a dragons skeleton. Azam told us it's most likely a blue dragon since they live out here. The way to know if one is near is to spot a thunder cloud in the sky. Good to know.
Even more days passed and we camped out with a group called the Zhentarim. Azam warned us to be hospitable with them as they can be dangerous.
The Zhents were quite talkative. Luna asked some stupid questions, Catscratch enjoyed compliments from a Tiefling girl, and Winny seemed pleased to bond with another Half Elf.
They asked us if we wanted to camel race. Not gonna lie, I was pretty stoked to ride a camel. I ended up partners with Luna but of course Catscratch and the Tiefling won. Suddenly, a huge sand octopus grabbed the Zhent gang. We had no choice but to fight. I took a beating from it's tentacles but we defeated it.
The next morning we were hit by a sandstorm (of course) thanks to a giant cloud castle in the sky. We were able to save the carts but the sand in our clothes was very uncomfortable.
A few days later we finally crossed the whole desert and made it to a small outpost. There we delivered the statue, took a bath, and ran into the Half Dragonborne guy. Apparently he had seen us fighting the octopus and dealing with the sandstorm. Luna and Rain were pissed but I didn't really mind. Why would he help us? He had not reason to.
