The Book Thief (Part 2)

22 Eleint 1489 DR

We finally met up with the head librarian and he told us about some of his staff missing. He told us to check the archives since that's where the two were suppose to be on duty today.

The archives were huge but we found the area. We were too late once we noticed the dead body hunched over a table with piles of books. We did notice two of the books that were stolen were now open on the table with pages ripped out about the Pool of Radiance.

Suddenly, a shockwave and rumble rang through out the archives as all the book cases toppled over. A hole was blown into a wall and we went to investigate. We found a room with old, burnt, books and were attacked by shadows. Luna was downed quickly while the rest of us finished them off.

With Luna back on her feet, we hurried through another hole in the wall and ended up in the sewers. Luna caused these giant centipedes to fall asleep as we snuck by. After two hours of walking we ended up in the mouth of a cave and in the middle of a swamp. Sitting near the mouth of the cave, around a campfire, was a blue Tiefling and a wyvern.

The Tiefling (the book thief) was bandaged all over and was in no real shape to fight us. However, before the wyvern could attack, Rain seduced him until she released his saddle bag and the pages from the books fell out. Catscratch dived for them and the battle was on. I fought the Lizard folk it summoned while Rain and Catscratch fought tooth and nail to finish off the wyvern with Luna buffing and healing.

It was a tough battle, Rain and Catscratch lost a lot of health, but they managed to defeat it. We turned in the Tiefling and the books back to Phlan. After, we all got some drinks at the Laughing Goblin tavern to relax after the hard day's work.

This adventuring stuff is hard work. I usually don't drink but after that wyvern attack I felt like I needed it. Can't wait to relax a bit. Hopefully we wont have another mission too soon.
